SPEECHLESS

#years later, people start telling stories #late-night horror stories and love stories that get tangled up until they can’t tell which is which #not quite fairytales, but not quite anything else #stories about red riding hood and his warm brown eyes #about the big bad wolf and how he turned out not so big and bad #about the Pack, the short, tight circles they’d sleep in #there’s death in these stories #and revenge #bloodshed #and how hard you can love someone #how it doesn’t help to hold in their intestines as they’re bleeding out #there are many battles #many tales of soft lips and hard teeth #of beasts and hunters snarling and biting #but it always comes back to them #to the wolves #and the boy who keeps up with them
