I’m Orthodox and I celebrate on the 25th. Religions… Oh well, it’s a good excuse to have a cuppa hot wine (or two) ;) Fröhliche Weihnachten!
I think that has something to do with the ‘old’ calendar, not sure.
It’s not Christmas for all Orthodox people. It’s for those who follow the Old (Julian if I’m not mistaken) Calendar and celebrate Christmas on the 7th and New Year’s on the 14th (old new year).
I think the Serbian (orthodox) church still celebrates according to the old calendar.
Yes, some Orthodox people (like Russians and Serbs) celebrate religious holidays according to the old calendar. And OMG he caught me off guard with this. I just replied to him with OMFG.
