Gif Tutorial 

I decided to make a tutorial for tumblr showing you how i make my gifs.

I use CS2 and CS5.

I use CS2 because it has the option Import Folder as Frames

CS5 has the option Import Video Frames to Layers and i don’t really like it.

You don’t have to use 2 different programs ( here you can find a tutorial that uses only CS5).

Try to use HQ videos to make gifs.

I’ll use a part from “Artifact” by 30STM.

I use GOM player to watch movies.Before selecting the frames from the video you should go on the far right side of GOM and press the Control Panel button.Then press Advanced Capture and click “Change Directory” to select and create the folder where the captures (frames) of the video will be in to make the gif.

To select the frames you want to make your gif with you have to press “CTRL + E”.

Using CS2 i’ll go:

1. File -> Import -> Folder as Frames

2. Select the folder your frames are in and press Ok.

3.And you will have this.Now you have to adjust the imagine size by Image -> Image size.The perfect size for a gif is to have Width 500px.

4.Next thing that i do is to delete some of the frames i don’t really need in the gif.

Sometimes you need to check frame by frame to see if there are double frames or not.It is very important because every frame counts if you want your gif to be  500px weidth and color effects added to it.

Of course you delete the frames that are close to each other too,meaning for exemple, if the video is in slow motion you definetely should delete a lot of frames.

Usually i delete the frames this way so the difference from frame to frame wont be so obvious.

5.Press to delete de frames you have selected.

Ps: I decided to let the gif with 10 frames.

6.If you click play to see how the gif would look like you will see that it moves really fast. You could make the gif moving slower by selecting the frames (select the first frame and then with Shift pressed select the last frame) or you can do this .

7.Once you have the frames selected you click on the button of one of those frames on “0 sec.” (to make sure you wont deselect them) and write the “speed” you want your gif to have.As you could see on the previous print screens i let my gif to be “0.15”.

Click play to see if you are ok with how fast the gif is moving.

8.What i do next is to save this gif on my desktop File -> Save Optimized As… so i could move “the actions” to CS5.

9.Using CS5 now i go File -> Open and select my gif.

If you can’t see the Animation Window on CS5 go to Windows and select “Animation”.

10.Most of the time using CS5 for your gif you will focus on the LAYERS panel (if is the right word) on the right side of the screen.

11.Select the first frame on the LAYERS panel and click and add color effects and text (if you want to) to the gif.

If any frame wont get colored, select the frames that are not colored and make the “eye” button appear for the color effect layers as you can see here .You do the same if you add a text and you want the text to appear on all the frames of the gif.

The best thing about using CS5 is that it gives you the option to delete the colors of your gif to make it to “fit” on Tumblr.

So, to see the panel with the colors that had been used (added by you) for your gif go File -> Save for Web and Devices.

Before you start to delete the colors from you gif, save the gif and see if is under 500 kb.

If so,lucky you! :P

Delete colors,delete frames or crop the gif so you could get the gif under 500kb.

My gif now is 499kb and it looks like this:

As you see i cropped it and the number of frames is now 7 instead of 10.

If you don’t want to work so much with the colors on a gif you could make your gif black and white.

Tutorial: How to make a montage

ADVICE:

1.Try to use “normal” pics with the celebrity you want to make the montage with.This way the final result will look more real.Try to avoid using pictures taken with profesional camera.Only if you have this kind of pictures with yourself.

2.Try to use pictures taken in the same time of the day,if you know what i mean.DO NOT USE a picture with you taken in the morning,with your face covered in sun rises and the celebrity picture taken when outside is dark.

3.Be carefull at the colors/effects/light of the pictures.DO NOT use one picture taken with a cell phone and the other pic from a photoshoot.

As you can see Jared’s position in the pic is the same as mine (on the right) so i’ll flip (mirror) his pic so he could “stay” on the left side of the pic.If the picture looks weird after you do this,try the same with your pic.If you look retarded,then search for other pics to match :D . This is the part that pisses me off all the time.

Flip the picture : Image-> Image Rotation -> Flip Canvas Horizontal

Now you have to resize the both pictures (if it’s the case)

In this case Jared’s pic is 480/640 px and mine is 2304/3072 px.

Huge difference!

So now you must resize your pic and resize and resize… ‘till you think it looks real.

I left my pic at 675/900 px.

Now,move your pic in Jared’s using the Move Tool 

And you have:

Remove the parts from the pic that cover Jared with . Select the parts of the pic you want to remove and press Delete.

Now with the eraser erase the rest of the useless parts.You can select the size of the erase from here:

NOTE: Oh and if you are using the Photoshop for the 1st time to see the forms of the eraser like you see them in the picture above you need to do this:

Do the same when you use the brushes tool.

Back now.

This is what i did so far to the pic :

As you can see there are spots where you can see the other girl’s hair etc.

I decided to duplicate ( http://i55.tinypic.com/4iyc7m.jpg ) Jared’s pic by right click on Background -> Duplicate layer… (Layers - far right on Photoshop).

I moved the new duplicated pic of Jared in my pic to make it easier for me.

Now i’ll try to hide the spots where the blonde hair can be seen with the tree behind Jay( :D ). Now you have this:

Do tricks to hide the grass too.

You can see the girl’s jacket…I decided to duplicate parts of the ground (asphalt) to cover it.I filled the space between us were you could see the hair and collar of the girl too..

Make it to look real.

I have a hand on my waist. My friend’s hand haha. I could cover (it’s a heardache) it but i will crop the picture (using  ) to make it easier… :

Now we need to adjust the colors.

For this you can use Curve,Color Balance,Selective Color,Photo Filter etc. You can find them at Image -> Adjustments.

I wanted to make my face color like Jared’s and i used Color Balance.

NOTE: When you want to color only a part of the picture (i want to work only at my face) you need to duplicate the picture,then using Eliptical Marquee Tool

select only the face ( http://i56.tinypic.com/2a8ktih.jpg ) and then work with Color Balance. When you finish and you like the result, deselect Eliptical Marquee Tool by clicking whatever on the pic and start erase the parts you don’t want the new color to be seen on.

Now that the colors match a little you work as much as you want with them again (if you want to).Before you need to fill the picture by merge all the layers :

You go Layer -> Merge Visible ( http://i55.tinypic.com/29go290.jpg ) and you’ll have this :

AGAIN,I DON’T KNOW HOW GOOD I EXPLAINED THE TUTORIAL,BUT IF YOU WANT TO ASK ME SOMETHING HIT THE ASK BOX.

YOU DON’T NEED TO USE THESE PICTURES,SEARCH FOR YOUR OWN PICTURES.I JUST EXPLAINED WHAT YOU SHOULD DO,WHAT TOOLS YOU CAN USE BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS TO HAVE PERFECT PICTURES,TO MATCH.

IF YOU HAVE THIS,THE MONTAGE CAN BE FINISHED IN 10 MINUTES.

So …if this tutorial seems hard, tell me and i’ll use the Shannon’s montage i made yesterday to explain to you,but i’m not gonna tell you more then i already have.

How much you work on a montage it only depends on the pictures you want to use,as i said.

Tutorial: How to add TAGS 

annjillianasked me how i made the TAGS from my blog.

Exemple : my blog

First exemple: to show you this (the list with tags) as you see when you click “TAGS”

Second exemple: to show you this (directly the art) as you see when you click “PERVERT” on my blog.

1. Go to Customize -> Pages -> Add a page

So these are all my tags
For the 1st exemple your new page has to look like this:


You can see that i have a list with the stuff i made (ex.:NEW->art->my art). The “my art” tag is just a link to the things i made and i tagged as “my art 2011” as you can see here . So first you have to tag your stuff (if you didn’t) and then use the “Insert/edit link” :
And this will appear:

At “Link URL” you will copy-paste the page with all your things tagged with (like i tagged) “my art 2011” http://grazzia88.tumblr.com/tagged/my_art_2011. You can fill “Title” and select the options from “Target” too. Then click Insert , “Save” and “Save and close”
And i think that’s it…

For the 2nd exemple you need to have this:It’s almost the same thing as the 1st exemple BUT at “Page Type” you don’t have selected the option “Standard Layout” but “Redirect”. When you select the “Redirect” option you want,when people click on the “PERVERT” tag,to bring them directly to the stuff you made, NOT A LIST (in my case,directly to my montages).At “Redirect to” you have to copy-paste the link of the page tagged with “my montages 2011” http://grazzia88.tumblr.com/tagged/my_montajes_2011. “Save” -> “Save and close”
